Stephen King is not everyone's cup of tea. He has written a few that aren't scary at all, either. I find his books are very hit and miss with me.

Bram Stoker, hee, a classic. I usually don't like the classics all that much, and Stoker is no exception. They're often very stiff and unemotional, which mostly bores me.

The Catcher in the Rye, omg, we had to read that in English class, and I hated it. I thought the guy was a pretentious asshole and I could never identify with him. I considered picking it up again sometime, maybe my perspective has changed over the last 20 years, who knows?

I had the same problem with The Trials of Young Werther, Goethe's most popular book. It's also required school reading here, and the guy is just such a whiny hopeless romantic. I wanted to slap him the whole time. He kills himself at the end (mwah romantic tropes) and I was not sad.

I hadn't heard of Pure before, but it goes on my To-Read list now. Same with American Gods. I should read a lot more Gaiman, I think.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I love Stephen King sci-fi/paranormal stuff too, I was just thinking since it was a sequel to a horror novel that it would be horror as well. The only book of his that I absolutely cannot stand/didn't finish was Misery. It was awful. And I didn't like how the Dark Tower series ended.

Yeah. So far I haven't liked any of the classics I've tried to read. :( That's not too say I don't like Dracula, the format just took some getting used to.

Sounds about like Madame Bouvary. I couldn't stand the main character and ended up feeling bad for her husband.

It was a good series! I've kind of become addicted to dystopian young adult novels. I just love the worlds and ideas they create.

Ironically, Good Omens is a Gaiman book I haven't read. I have Stardust, Neverwhere, Smoke and Mirrors, The Sandman series, Death, and of course American Gods. I want The Sleeper and the Spindle, but I haven't gotten it yet.

It was fun! Thanks for reading!
