Well crap

I left yesterday to visit my beloved Chris, and hoped to see Donna in the trip. I was declined at the border. I won't go into details because I am smarting though, and when the things I need to do this evening are done, I plan to climb into bed with my rats and some booze and suck my thumb for several days... or weeks ( Read more... )

Which side of the border are you on? My ex (Canadian) and I are ... thinking about getting back together and he's driving down here next weekend and is flipping out about the border. (He's half black, and is pretty "racially ambiguous" so he gets hassled lots. :/)

I know a US immigration lawyer, but I don't think that'd help you?

Hi honey,
Sorry it took me so long to reply. I'm on the Ontario side. It was pretty traumatic, I've had to take time to deal with it all. that guy will refuse to let me back in, and he's left his filth on my permanent record. i have very few options left, but I'm working on it.

I hope your man didn't have any trouble. You are SO right about the racial profiling they do, I see so many "non-cream" in the lines, it's sick.

Yikes. I'm really sorry that happened. I'll ask around about lawyer recommendations.

If people knew how much power a border guard has - along with unfettered discretion about who they choose to bully - they'd freak. Even though I have never been challenged (blue eyes, blonde hair), I dislike even being in the position of total vulnerability. They can even hold you in custody without recourse to a lawyer for several days.

Good luck with your fight.

I seem to recall even Ted Kennedy had a problem because of a name similarity with someone on the no-fly list.

This guy is SO stereotypical he was nearly an Archie Bunker... only not so amusing. All I can do is hope that Karma bites him so hard in the ass that he feels it in his great grandkids. I'm working on it, I'll let you know if something develop-s there. And thanks for coming in. I haven't been around much at all.

xo
