Hmm, Arabic music. Traditional/techno/underground/fusion...? Haven't we had this conversation before? I highly, highly recommend the CD "Mugam Sayagi - Music of Frangiz Ali-Zadeh" with Kronos. Lovely, lovely sounds. I equally recommend the Anouar Brahem Trio. I have their recording "Astrakan Cafe" (ECM)and it's fantastic. Also on the ECM label is Kayhan Kalhor and Shujaat Husain Khan's "Ghazal/The Rain" CD. I can let you borrow these, but I need them back in about 2 weeks for some stuff I'm doing for school. ;)

I love you. You're so full of information on subjects I know nothing about. :D Hmm, it occurs to me that I don't actually see you often enough to be sure of getting them back to you by the time you need them, but thank you for offering! (Also, at this point I'll buy anything by Kronos at sight, so, not an issue.)

I'm pretty sure we had this conversation about world music at some point. The problem is that I'm so at sea with these things because I never know what to buy until I buy, you know? The only Arabic music I hear is in Venus's classes, and of course I never know what that is. (I asked once or twice; I think everything she told me about was out of print. My radar is impeccable. :D)
