I often feel sheepish about my sense of humour, and because of this I tend to suppress it somewhat when I'm around people I don't know well, and who I am unsure will see eye-to-eye with me on the whole category of "amusing." To be fair, they weren't actually flying. :) Basically, I'm taking a Roman inscriptions class right now (under duress, but it's actually pretty interesting), and we're dealing with stuff that was done by/relating to the army at the moment, so the professor showed us a slide of what's essentially some carved graffiti on a bridge and said "What does this look like?" So I kept my mouth shut, because that is honestly not a first impression I want to share with the department head. Anyhow, turns out it was a good luck symbol in the form of "two phalli sharing a pair of balls."
