This is for
sunny214 and
ariadna_86 who "convinced" me to post the first chapter of my convention story, that was lying in my drawer for quite a while now, although I don't have it betaed. I'm no native English speaker so all the mistakes and the bad grammar are mine.
I have never been to a convention so far (but hopefully will one day) so this is only what I think it could be like.
Well ladies hope you enjoy ...
Chapter 1
The Vancouver Covention has always been their favorite convention, simply for the fact that it allowed them to sleep in their own beds and no extra travel time was required. On the other hand it also meant they wouldn’t get time off from filming and after a long exhausting shoot til way past midnight Jared silently cursed when the alarm went down at 7:00 a.m.
They weren’t expected at the hotel before 8:30 a.m. so he lazily dragged himself out of bed.
He wanted to go for a run with the dogs before taking a shower and having a quick breakfast with Jensen.
When he passed Jensen’s room on his way downstairs he heard the water running in the shower and made a mental note to ask his friend if everything was ok as soon as he would be back. Because why would Jensen ever be up 1 hour before Clif was supposed to pick them up?
‘Maybe he’s just a little nervous about the convention,’ Jared thought to himself when he gave Harley and Sadie their morning cuddle and took off with them for their daily jog around the block.
Jensen let the water run down his aching muscles. He went straight to bed after they came back from set around 2:00 a.m. in the morning but somehow he felt like he didn’t get any sleep at all last night.
Turning off the hot water he started shivering a little and when he stepped out of the shower a sharp pain pierced thru his right side, taking his breath away for the moment.
“Ow, crap” he hissed while looking at his pale face in the mirror.
“Looks like you have to show up in the make-up department before facing the fangirls. Don’t want to disappoint them,” he said to his reflection.
Slowly making his way back to the bedroom he stole a glance at his watch and let himself fall down on the bed. Still another hour before Clif would be here to pick them up.
With this thought in mind he slid back under the covers and curled himself up to settle the uncomfortable feeling in his stomach.
Jared got back 10 minutes later, took a quick shower, fed the dogs and was preparing breakfast.
He spoke to Harley and Sadie: ”What do you think guys shall we go wake up sleeping beauty and drag his little ass out of bed?“
Just this moment the dogs ran out of the kitchen to welcome Jensen downstairs.
“Well it’s about time” Jared turned around with a big grin on his face when Jensen slowly walked towards him, but his expression changed immediately after he caught a closer look at this best friend.
“Gee, Jensen you look like shit, what’s wrong man?”
Jensen shrugged his shoulders and slumped on the chair. “Coffee,” was the only sound that came out of his mouth.
Jared poured him a cup of coffee and placed it on the counter suspiciously eyeing his friend while he took a sip.
“Hm, that’s good” Jensen mumbled, holding on to his cup while absently rubbing his stomach.
“Ok dude, I heard you in the shower when I went out with the dogs, so don’t you tell me there’s nothing wrong!” Jensen looked at him with a tired smile “Just didn’t sleep so well and yeah, feeling a little weird,” he admitted.
“Maybe you could specify weird a little?” Jared shot his friend a worried look.
‘I hate those puppy-dog eyes,’ Jensen thought and shifted in his chair. “Feels like an upset stomach, guess Dean had too many ham sandwiches last night …” with that Jensen jumped from his chair and made a quick run to the bathroom, leaving Jared frozen to the point before finally realizing what’s going on and taking off after his friend.
The sight of Jensen slumped over the toilet and expelling his stomach contents made him wince in sympathy.
Rubbing one hand soothingly over Jensen’s back he handed a washcloth to him after the retching finally stopped.
“Dude, I guess there’s no convention for you today!”
“No way,” Jensen straightened himself up a little “I’m going. Those people paid a hell lot of money for their tickets, so I’m not going to disappoint them because of a stupid stomach bug.”
He tried to get up but miserably failed when the room started spinning and he decided to sit back down on the floor for another minute. Catching his breath he continued “And I’m so not gonna miss Steve’s concert tonight. So would you just help me up and get me the good stuff out of the first aid kit?”
Despite his worries Jared smiled and put out a hand to help Jensen on his feet.
“See, I’m much better already,” Jensen proudly announced.
Jared shook his head and guided his stubborn friend back to the kitchen.
“Go sit tight while I get the meds, Dean!”
“Yeah, always the mother hen, Sammy,” came the immediate reply.
Jared returned with a bottle of pills and handed Jensen a glass of water. He watched his friend swallowing two of the pills and glanced at his watch.
“Listen man, Clif’s gonna be here in 15 minutes, you sure you really wanna go? I mean they would understand if …”
“Nah, I’m feeling better now that I have emptied my stomach, really, I’m gonna be ok.”
The younger actor took a closer look at his co-star again and decided to drop the subject for now but to keep a close eye on him.
“Ok, but when you are feeling worse promise me to take it easy and go back home.”
There they were again, those puppy-dog eyes neither Dean nor Jensen could resist! “I promise Sasquatch!”
