People, I do not feel that Sam Winchester gets enough love. Truly, I do not. Possibly because I do not believe there is an amount of love in the world that would be adequate for his magnificence, but that is beside the point. And so, i propose a game. It is catchily called WHY SAM WINCHESTER Is the Most AWESOMEST EVER

You know what else I love? At the end of S2, when he says, "You're my big brother. There's nothing I wouldn't do for you," and then he spends 3 seasons proving it--admittedly, in terribly fucked up ways, but still. Also, "What do you think my job is?" So. Much. Love.

2. If we're talking about his smile, then his dimples. And his laughter.
3. His eyes. So expressive and gorgeous.
4. His beautiful big hands.
5. His hair. Dean loves to tangle his fingers in it.
6. His brain.
7. His geekiness.
8. His goofiness.
9. How badass he is.
10. His amazing body.
11. His sexiness.
12. His voice. The way he recites Latin. The way he says Dean's name.
13. His stubborness.
14. His powers.
15. The goodness in him
16. The darkness in him.
17. His love for Dean. How he lost himself without his brother. The fact that he's Dean's soulmate.
18. EVERY SINGLE THING ABOUT HIM.

I don't just love Sam, I have such a huge admiration for him. Boy fucks up in epic, epic ways, but he's always working on himself. His capacity for self-reinvention can be destructive -- he remodels himself on a blueprint of his own worst fears in s4 -- but then he doesn't just stay a monster, or wail and gnash his teeth at how much he's messed up, he turns around and remakes himself again. It's why though new!Sam acts in ways Sam would never act without being screwed in the head, it's not in the least OOC that there should BE new!Sam. Sam gets damaged, whether purely psychologically or missing soul or whatever, first thing he's going to do is sit down and make a functional self out of what's left, even if that functional self is short a few vital pieces. And you can be sure Dean's going to be right there in the moving springs of what Sam builds.

I love this. I've never seen it articulated quite so perfectly as this, but, yes, that's exactly what he does, and it is, indeed, awesome. It's the practicality of it that I love so much, and the strength it takes. And, of course, that Dean is always at the centre of what he becomes. I love that an awful lot.

Also undeniably awesome? How he says things like, "Dude, we're not gonna poke her with a stick," and simultaneously sounds both outraged and fond. ♥
