Okay, I didn't post about this last night, because I couldn't really decide, and now I've thought about it, and well...it wasn't the best fifty minutes of television ever, was it?

Spoilers for The Last of the Timelords )

Hi you! Come talk to me about Who. We have unsurprisingly compatible views (especially re: Rose!)

Um, mostly because francine and Tish ended up in maid costumes (which is obviously also evidence of the horrific misogyny), and Martha didn't actually do anything but be a missionary for the Doctor, so she didn't actually accomplish anything herself. I would think this means overlooking the fact that she actually travelled the world and became a legend herself, but apparently not ( ... )

And here's the thing. I keep seeing that RTD is misogynistic, and I can't quite get there.

Bzuh? See, I've always thought the opposite of RTD. His women are capable, intelligent, independent, and they're not overly sexualized. I don't think that two women falling in love with the Doctor means anything. Aren't we, the fans, rather in love with him?

This is exactly what I think. I really don't know what more people expect of them. Neither of them was afraid to make the hard choices, or to call the Doctor on his bullshit, or to stand and fight when it needed doing. How this is a bad message to be sending is completely beyond me.

And I notice that no one mentions Jack's rather intense feelings for him. That's okay because he's a man, I suppose. *snerk*

Yeah, it seems like women can't win with the fans in ANY fandom.
