Yeah! I was so happy and shocked when I realized I recognized the artwork from your sig. I just read that chapter! I love that scene... Chiaki just grabs her and they start drunkenly waltzing down the street.... *faints* So sweet.
Don't worry, when I catch up with you I will want to compare notes on what we like best about it :) Whee!
Uh, this is a josei, not a shoujo. Maybe those are better than shoujo manga, since I don't think I've read one. Hopefully, josei series have smarter female protagonists than shoujo series do.
I was reading Hot Gimmick recently, and I just can't stand how utterly idiotic its lead character is. Seriously, the guy she likes in the beginning goes out with her in order to gain her trust, all for the purpose of--this is no joke--filming her being gang-raped as part of a revenge plan against her father. Luckily, the real guy she's supposed to fall in love with saves her, but she immediately forgives that total asshole that set her up. She's such a passive and fucking retard, and she spends half the series crying and being indecisive. I kept waiting for her to stop being so horrible and annoying, but that never happens.
Really, I had to watch some old episodes of Urusei Yatsura to cool myself down.
This Nodame Cantabile series does sound better than Hot Gimmick. Though, I get the feeling I wouldn't like it too much.

You're right, of course. Nodame Cantabile is josei. I get mixed up about this. Honey and Clover is sometimes classified as both shoujo and josei, too. Hmm. It depends on the website

And Nodame is pure ♥. Too bad she's so messy!
