Instead of working on my NaNoWriMo project which isn't going anywhere (except perhaps the trash bin), I offer you this instead, my fellow world-weary IchiRuki fans: the last two vignettes of my series, a little gift from you to me.

Rated M (but I prefer Y) just to be consistent.
Disclaimer: I don't own the Bleach franchise.

*le sigh* This was absolutely brilliant, BOTH of them. Seriously, the flow and everything....incredible. Thanks for posting.

Possibly ironic closing words? adam_epp November 7 2007, 04:11:57 UTC
Rukia: Pillow Book

Contrast to kane shi megami, I thought the virgin cat-call was out of place since it appeared to be used in a derogatory, or condescending, manner and what else could Rukia be but a virgin, herself? Take a look at the major guys in her life: Renji...like a close brother; Byakuya...aloof brother; Kaien...married; Ichigo...data pending but we know they haven't done it, either. So, yeah, it seemed strange to me for her to think like that.

Okay, you have Rukia drink a "class" of water, and you missed changing a present-tense verb "has" to "had" (...Ichigo had shifted in his sleep...). Both of these are in the Midnight paragraph.

What else do I say? I'm disappointed in myself for being so cynical. Uh, the other commentators have already praised you for conveying feelings, flow, portrayal, and stuff and said what needs to be said.

Ichigo: A Question of Time

This sentence near the beginning felt a little awkward to me:

Yes, the virgin cat-call was condescending but it was also was meant to be humorous. There's no evidence that either Ichigo or Rukia have done it, with each other or anyone else. Yet given Rukia's age, the probability of some experience seems far more likely than absolute zero, after all. There are so many crack theories on who might be her possible first (the funniest I've read had both Ikkaku and Yumichika) but really, it's not the type of thing that drives the plot of Bleach ( ... )

Given Rukia's crazy naïveté about romance in the beginning (doesn't realize people think she and Ichigo are a couple, understates a kiss's importance) and even later (infamous bed scene), I've always viewed her as someone rather inexperienced in love. So a joke like the one you made clashes strongly against my perception of the character. Sorry. It does work within the context of the fic, however, so it's all right. Still, look out for a (somewhat) guileless Rukia in my mysterious new story in the works ( ... )

I REALLY, REALLY like it.
Last two pieces from each person's POV, and it's kinda like quick review-ing their love story.
They're so cute, and so in-tune with each other.

Would love to see more ichi-ruki projects from you.

thanks :D I'm taking a break from IchiRuki for a few weeks -- pending projects coming up -- but they will be back. I'm not done writing for them yet :D

Have you read The Pillow Book of Cordelia Kenn? Just wondering, 'cause of 20's title. It's a beautiful book; Beautiful and long. There's joyful bits, and sorrowful bits, telling 'bout the life of a girl, Cordelia.

'We spent a wasted day waiting for a dog or a cat to be hit by a car by the roadside.'

That sounds so... wrong. Hahas. But it does make sense, why Ichigo and Rukia'd been near the road when they found Kon.

Your story ideas are interesting, Laurie, and they aren't even AU! (Usually, it's the AU ones that are more unique.) I like how you write. =)

Good luck with the NaNoWriMo project. I'm working on an essay/story for the Commonwealth competition currently. Wanna try pushing each other to write?

Hahas.

P.S. Will read 31 when I get back. Going out for lunch again. (It's either Thai or Japanese food at Sakae.)

I've heard of that... haven't found a copy yet. I read the English translation of the original one, the Pillow Book of Sei Shonagon -- who was the main literary rival of Lady Murasaki.

Sei Shonagon's pillow book was pretty random but interesting. She had poetry, lists of her favorite things and images, even little sarcastic anecdotes about her suitors. It actually reads like a Heian era blog. :)

About the line "We spent a wasted day waiting for a dog or a cat to be hit by a car..." as strange as it is, it's in the manga XD That's why I love it. KT ROCKS. (I double-checked my Viz... chapter 17 page 12.) Ichigo's original thought bubble is even worse... "but fresh corpses are harder to find than you'd think." MWAHAHAHAHA

My NaNoWriMo is still going nowhere, even if I've already changed genres and started over. I think my mind is too preoccupied with Bleach to think of anything real.

Yes, I need someone else aside from my sister to push me to write. :( I hate deadlines.
