and so comes to a close the day from hell. in all seriousness, i haven't had a day this bad in, well, a week frankly, which doesn't make me feel any better. my ipod was stolen sometime between 9:30pm and 7am thursday night. i had realized that i had forgotten it in the rec room on thursday night after work, but thought, oh, it'll be ok, it's not ( Read more... )

i could say many things about this post, but i will only make one comment:

you are not a failure because someone stole your ipod. it may seem like it was your irresponsiblity, but it is they who really lack trustworthiness, honor, and kindness. it is not your fault that they took advantage of you, and i really do believe that it will come back in one way or another.

there is hope. like when someone stole a lot (a few hundred) of money once, a theft this big will possibly warrant an investigation by the administration. go to ms. t before devotions so she knows about this and can emphasize the seriousness of the offence.

"Grand larceny is typically defined as larceny of a significant amount of property. In the U.S., it is often defined as an amount valued at $200 or more. Grand larceny is often classified as a felony with the concomitant possibility of a harsher sentence."

that means that someone is going to get into some deep shit if there's an actual investigation. so chin up, and it's not your fault.

i told ms t. she looked at me like "well, what do you want me to do about it?" i have a feeling she's not going to push the issue, other than say in devotions that it's against the honor code. the sad thing is, honor assembly was less than a week ago.

plus, there was never anything done about sarah bare's camera last year, which i'm certain cost more than my ipod.

but thank you for the confidence. i really hope you're right.

you could always threaten to go to the police. i mean, that's a severe action, but it's a serious crime (that's what felony means) and it might get the administration on the case.

i'm afraid threatening to go to the police will make whoever took it even more hesitent to give it back. i mean, i would think someone would be more likely to give it back if they thought they wouldn't get in trouble. bringing up that it's a fedreal offense might scare them off.

also, i don't want a bitter administration on my hands. i still need to get into college. i mean, i think to save the school's reputation they would give me three hundred dollars before they'd open up an investiagtion, but when i need to ask for even more money my senior year because my social security has run out, they're might be very stingy in handing it out (aka, i wouldn't be able to come back my last year. not good)

so basicaly, i'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. whoever took it either lucked out or was very clever in choosing their victim.
