So I'm really having trouble grasping the concept of a pre-paid debit card that is not accepted in any stores I ever shop at. What is the point of gifting me free money if I cannot use it?

I bet this is not a problem for people who live in, you know, civilization. -___-

What is a pre-paid debit card (besides extremely frustrating)?

It's basically a credit/debit card that has a predetermined amount of money loaded on it, so you can use it to buy things until the money runs out (and, supposedly, you can load more money on it when it runs out, if you want).

I've never tried to use one before, but I won this as a prize and am very Not Pleased that I can't find a place that will let me use it. Granted I'm not really out anything, but ... it's free money, and I wants it. Haha.

I see. Thanks for the explanation.

Hm. Maybe check with the prize giver and get it/them to provide you with a list of participating stores that accept the card?

I think I can get my bank to take the card and just deposit the money somehow into my account ... not as fun as getting to use the card, but it'll get the money to a form I can use.

One would think there would be a list online somewhere of participating chain stores or something. Alas, my google-fu has failed me on that front. I can't believe the internet doesn't know, so I'm just going to assume it's just hiding from me. Haha.
