Of Words and Terroir

This week, in a rare combination of wotsits, I went both Tuesday and Wednesday to the local wine shop & drinking establishment. (Hadn't been there since April, when I'd got freixenet's birthday bottle of wine.) Two different visits, two different groups of people with which to socialize, but on each occasion I had a glass of the same excellent wine -- a ( Read more... )

Sounds delicious! I quite like the Marlborough stuff - they're in everything but a bath lately it would seem - but this one sounds lovely too. I'm drinking more wine of late, red mostly; are you fond? If you can get your hands on a Henschke's Henry's Run or Keyneton Estate Euphonium 2004 (such ridiculous names really!) give it a try. Very yummy. Anything by Brown Brothers is always good too. Dear God, I sound like a lush!

Enjoy your wine dearest; chin chin!

I'm pretty sure that most of the world loves the Marlborough stuff. It's not that I dislike it, mind -- just not my top choice. :-)

I'm not a red-wine drinker, but I do buy it as birthday presents for friends -- this is excellent information, thank you thank you! You're a star, L!

[hugs and thanks]

I'll look out for the Fume Blanc - I've been considering a Spec's outing and now there's a goal.

With fingers crossed books will be in the mail tomorrow.

And I would also like to know what Morgan and Alice think of terroir :-D

Oh, I hope you like the wine (if you find it)! [fingers crossed for that]

You are a kind person, Susan, and I will have to contemplate the Morgan-and-Alice-and-terroir question for you soon. (Am currently wrestling magic coyotes in West Texas.)

Hugs and joy to you!

I am a wine charlatan, in that I prefer sweet wines! I adore a lovely German (or Pac NW) Riesling, late harvest Chenin Blancs, sparkling Muscats, and my favorites, Italian Moscato d'Asti!

{HUGS} for Thursday night and good wine!

Sweet wines are perfectly acceptable among the Wine-Folk Who Know! The great Hugh Johnson, whom I love*, speaks well of Rieslings, etc. I just don't care for them much. ;-)

*In a "don't know personally but love his writing and his presence" way.

[pours you a nice sweet Riesling]
[hugs]

Once in a while, as my "wine palate" matures, I've tried some Sauvignons and drier Roses, but usually, just too dry!

(The same, sadly, with most sparklings and Champagne; I always gravitate to the Italian sparklings!)

Happy Friday!!!
