Things of Joy, Post #5

Jan 27, 2017 18:24

I have been absolutely terrible at keeping my bullet-journal, largely because work has been overwhelmingly busy. (This state of affairs should ease... [looks at calendar]...in February. For one week only.] But I am thinking of joy:

Ouch! Sorry the massage has left you sore, but hopefully you'll feel much better tomorrow.

My problem with bullet journals is that Pinterest and lifestyle bloggers have turned an efficient system into something where people go overboard to the point that a short list turns into a two-hour artistic endeavour! I just keep a daily to-do list, with a separate list for the week's tasks. Each day, I review my list and make up the next day's, transferring any outstanding tasks. All in whatever ballpoint pen I have handy, nothing fancy. I don't even use a Moleskin, just a scratch pad.

::hugs, hugs::

The massage was awesome, really. :)

My journal of lists isn't really a proper bullet-journal but it also isn't a to-do list -- rather, it's a Things I've Gotten Done list, which is comforting when I feel like I've done nothing. (It's also humbling when I really *haven't* done what I need.) But I'm not really doing the whole decorative aspect of it.

Cheers and hugs to you!

Congratulations on your adoption anniversary!

I looked at bullet journals, but it was all too complicated - I'd be spending all my time embellishing the journal. Which would be fun for a while, but nothing else would get done.

Let me offer an idea to you: wouldn't it be nice to embellish your lists of Slayage of Usefuls? Transforming tasks into joy? :)

But I do understand that it could be a total time-suck!

Cheers and hugs for you!

I found a calendar set for my planner at Michaels, and spent several happy days adding washi tape, stencils, glitter pens, and rubberstamps while filling in the dates. So there's that.

Congrats to you and Master Danger on your anniversary, which I'm sure he would be celebrating if barking at neighbours wasn't more enjoyable.

I am very keen to watch Lucifer but its not available anywhere I can see it at the moment, which is annoying.

I think taking care of ourselves is very important at the moment. Much joy to you too.

Master Danger will not be celebrating at all in a few hours, when he gets his bath. The things the poor boy must endure. ;)

Lucifer has become really interesting (in a Big Stupid Show way) in this second season. I hope that across the pond you get to see Tom Ellis really strut his stuff! :)

All hugs, all best to you!

I had NO IDEA how badly I needed it until it started!

Hugs and good self-care plans to you, F.

I've never taken to Deanna Raybourne for some reason. I may have to try her again.

I was hit-or-miss with Raybourn's Lady Julia series -- I bounce off the 1st-person narration, for one thing -- and I didn't care for the setup novel in this new series. But boy, the second one worked like a freakin' charm for me despite the 1st-person POV. Veronica is a lepidopterist and amateur detective (and a bastard of royal blood), and her male detecting-and-UST partner is Stoker, an explorer and biologist outcast of an aristocratic family. Some fun stuff.

Hugs hugs, S!
