Well, you could always put in for #1, counting on the fact that since everyone wants their kids there, you won't get in, and you'll go to the second school anyways! :)
Or you could just fill in #2. Seriously, the morning thing would just kill me!
That's what I was thinking, about everyone wanting in so we haven't got a chance! But then, from what I understand, if we don't get into #1 OR #2, our name goes on a waiting list for #1, and we wind up in #3, and #2 is crossed off the list.
Well neither one of these are sanitized or suburban - our #3 choice is very, very heavily white (its on the other side of Lake Harriet), but the other 2 are pretty diverse as far as different races and backgrounds. But we could walk to #1, and also I don't have to fear stray bullets if he's on the playground at #1... for the most part, anyway. D:
ooh 7:30 is early... Ian's starts at 8:25 and is only a mile or so away so it isn't too bad getting him up and ready to go. That is a hard decision for you to make. ARGHHHHH!!
I KNOW! On days I don't go to work, I don't even drag my lazy ass out of bed before 9! And I have to get him up, fed, clothed, and on a bus by like 7? Yeah... I don't THINK so!
I think you put down the right choices. A half-day Kindergarten is a better transition to school, IMO. I went to all-day Kindergarten and it was a LOOONG day.
As for the school hours, the earlier one is better, especially when Peanut gets older and is in high school. Going from a late-start elementary to an early-start junior and/or senior high is quite a transition to have to get used to.
