I've just finished watching the episode and I'm really surprised that The Quorum really stood by Laura...

Wonderful story, but the Eight who piloted Laura and Baltar off Galactica wasn't Athena. She's in the brig with Helo, Hera, and the other Cylons.

You've got an optimistic view, but I don't think the people are going to just forget that Roslin basically went AWOL on them when they needed her to calm them down. Same with Adama, who really should have addressed concerns over the Cylons crawling all over their ships with their FTL drives instead of just railroading them.

True, Roslin and Adama got them to Earth, but I'm thinking the Fleet just wants to be handled like they matter.

I love your view of what could happen, though, even though I still don't think either Gaeta or Zarek deserve to die (not yet, anyway).

Well, I think the episode today is a full contradiction to what you say about the people not forgetting Laura's reaction. :D

Actually, it's not.

The Cylons gave Laura the means to pose a serious threat to Zarek and Gaeta. The Quorum finally grew a backbone, forcing Zarek to bet the house by slaughtering them. Bill took back his ship when a bunch of people suddenly showed up when they were nowhere to be found while Gaeta was taking over the ship.

And less than half the fleet halted their FTL drives when Laura made her plea to them.

So not exactly a full contradiction.

well, my idea was that some of the people, including some of the quorum, will defend Laura and stick with her- the whole Quorum died because they remained loyal to Laura and most of the ships did not jump after Laura's radio emission. The people I was talking about in my fic were civillians, in the show the civillians and only a small, insignificant fraction of the military helped Adama, just as I imagined. You said that the people would not forget about Laura's behaviour, but after all, they supported her in the episode. This is what I call a contradiction to your post.:)
