It can happen. If someone were to force air (and I mean a lot of air, a lot) very deep into a woman's vulva without letting it escape for a long time it can be deadly. It causes the air to seep into her blood stream and this would cause an air embolism. So the story is a bit wrong on this, it doesn't cause internal bleeding, just an embolism. Basically it's causing a blockage of air in the blood stream (usually the heart) that prevents blood from being pumped around. Therefore causing death.

But be assured that if you gently puff some air into your girlfriend (if she likes this) it isn't dangerous. This could simply not happen by accident.
