I like your analogy of how sphinxes mirror our every day lives, the masks we build to interact with others, and how underneath the "real" us can be shocking and really different from what even we expect.

I like the idea of having multiple "masks" so to speak, as long as each one is a real facet of who you are. It's a way to deal with the world without being disingenuous, but also without putting yourself out there COMPLETELY. Would a sphinx of yours ever have multiple masks? What would it mean for them if they did?

Thanks :)

They kind of do have multiple masks. Or at least they change based on each persons perception of them. Most people would see the 'base mask' but I think if/when that broke it would never go back to the original. And some few people would see them differently. It makes it hard to identify them based on their faces. The masks in this case are more a facet of what our mind interprets.

I dig it! So basically instead of creating different masks themselves, they allow other people's perceptions of them make the mask?

Exactly. They all do have base markings on their strange faces, and people tend to incorporate them in the masks that they make, but they aren't a given... everyone's sees things differently and interprets them through their own life filter.

(Hey and yay you being up in the daylight!!)
