Tea for Four
by Laura

It’s Tuesday afternoon, and John’s making them both tea, when there’s a sound from the living room. It’s unlike any other sound he’s ever heard, so he has to turn and look. There’s a Police Box appearing in the living room. There’s a bloody Police Box appearing, out of thin air, in the bloody living room.

Then there’s a blonde, curly-haired woman coming out of the Police Box, grinning in a familiar way, and saying, to Sherlock, “Hello, Sweetie!”

Oh, please, God, no.

But, yes, of course, the reply from his flatmate, accompanied by a genuine smile, is, “Mummy!”

He rises from the sofa and goes to hug her. While John is still attempting to get his head around all this, a man emerges from the Police Box as well. Thin as a rake, he’s got familiarly mad hair, a tweed jacket and a bow tie. This is clearly Sherlock and Mycroft’s father. And, therefore…

Oh, Bloody Hell. “Which one of you is actually human, then?” John asks.

The man grins. “Well done, Dr Watson. That would be Professor River Song. 51st century human, yes, but human, nonetheless. And I’m the Doctor.”

And where are you from? John wants to ask. “I thought I was the doctor?” he says, instead.

“Oh, you are, John, you are. Tea for four, then?”

“Tea for four,” he says, and goes back to preparing it.

Of course Sherlock’s half alien, it all makes perfect sense.

Well, John can make it make sense, at least.
