The Prettiest Star

They’re on a boat, heading home after a trip to Flat Holm. “What was it like, your own sky?” Gwen chances, looking up into the darkening blue, then over at Jack.
“My sky, huh?” He gives her an awkward smile, and looks up, himself. Eventually, he answers, with a sigh, “We had two suns, and two moons. And so many stars.” Jack turns back to her, and his smile is happier. “There was one star that always flickered pink and blue.”
“Sounds pretty.”
“It was, Gwen. Real pretty. It was my favourite, I wished on it every night for years.”
