Tonight’s Entertainment
by Laura

“A 1958 New York jazz club? What the hell're we gonna do here?” John asked Jack. They closed their VMs, surveyed the scene.

“Get some culture. Goddesses know you need some.”

“And you don’t?”

“I’m my own culture, sweetheart,” Jack replied, almost singing the words.

“Of course you bloody are.” John rolled his eyes, but kissed Jack, anyway. “C’mon, then. Tell me what this fine establishment offers as tonight’s entertainment.”

“Peggy Lee,” Jack said, smiling.

Later, in the 51st century, they kissed; Jack sang some lyrics they’d heard earlier:

“Fever… what a lovely way to burn.”

And John did, spectacularly.
