Australia Day

It's Invasion Australia Day today.

I've never been one to celebrate nationalism blatantly, and for someone on a disability allowance, it's yet another day when the buses run less often. And yet, there is some significance for this day.

They probably learned these attitudes from the UK. This is about as multicultural a country as is possible yet some deadheads still don't get it. Sigh :o(

Nationalism always seems to bring out the dickheads.

I haven't become a citizen yet but I would like to. I'm a permanent resident. I just can't afford the $300 it costs to get it done.

I have a lot of pride in this country, we have made so many achievements and can do so much. I'm very thankful to be here rather than somewhere like America. With my health I'd be screwed there.

I'd just prefer to celebrate this country and all it means to live here on a day that doesn't represent the start of a massacre

Yesterday I was in Second Life at a gimpgirl meeting and heard horrific stories about health care in the USA. They were amazed at what things were like in Australia. I'm so glad I don't live in the USA, too!
