I KNOWWW. :'( And I think it might be only six ever, except I'm confused by the different exams you can take. There's a prelim at the end of Year One, which seems to be optional (they say you 'can' take it), and you choose six papers for that, and there's the Part I exam at the end of Year Two (you 'will' take it), for which you also choose six papers. So I don't know if you can take six for the prelim and then another six for the Part I, or whether you take six total and just split the exams up by a year.
I think they send me more info in March, and then a welcome pack in September, so hopefully that will explain things more clearly. Otherwise I'll have to nerve myself up for yet more email-writing, aagh.
Also, the Part II papers are even better - Sea Kings and the Celtic Speaking World, Beowulf, Historical Linguistics, Writing Women, plus advanced versions of all the language papers from Part I, and it's just not faaaiiir to make me choose!
