 So, it appears that the weather on my arrival was not normal. It's a lot warmer now, which is good.

And when Darres pecks me and digs his claws in it doesn't hurt.

I called the crow Darres, by the way. He has the same violent tendencies (except the real Darres doesn't peck). I wonder what Darres would think about having a crow named after him?
