OOM: The book

May 12, 2006 01:22

Ramon's mind has been made up since the second he had the idea. The only part that bothers him about the plan is the fact that he won't be able to tell Random about it. Not yet. Maybe never, though the idea of keeping such a thing secret for the rest of his life is something that grates, just a little. But he can't risk Random talking him out of it and anyway, it'll hurt him that he's contemplating it at all. And Ramon doesn't want to hurt him.

It's this though, that prompts him to dig out the book that his lover got them at Christmas. He'd brought it from Haven when they'd come to spend time in Portugal - Ramon didn't want to risk Arithon or Bianca finding it. And it's useful, now, to be able to have it close and strategically leave it around for Random to find. Opened on to the relevant page, of course.

Things seem to be changing a bit don't they? Martin's here, and we're in Portugal and there's the new business in Texorami keeping me busy. I know I've been a bit preoccupied recently because I've had that and you're looking after the baby. Just wanted to tell you that I love you, and it doesn't matter what else changes, that'll always be true.

P.S Check the garage when you get this

It's a little soppy for his liking, but...at times like this, that's allowed. Even if he doesn't think he's going to get caught for what he's about to do, there's always a risk.

That aside though - when Random checks the garage, he'll see a new addition. Next to Ramon's big black SUV and the Jabberwock...

...a beautiful, sleek new sports car, the paintwork a gorgeous shade of dark burnt orange. The keys are in the ignition and under the windshield wiper a piece of card, that simply says,

Love you.
