I'd heard he'd been considered for Bruce. I'm having a hard time imagining that... at least, a hard time imagining that in a Nolan movie. I have an easier time seeing him as Clark because I thought Stephen had a lot of Clark-like qualities: he was loyal, he had a rather old-fashioned sense of propriety, he was a pretty good keeper of secrets, and in the end I thought he showed a better sense of "right-action" than all the very sophisticated people around him.
Have you seen my Batman/Smallville verse banners? I picture him as Bruce Wayne in both movies easily :D Oh boy, if you haven't seen his Dunhill ads, wow. Talk about smoldering sexy.
I googled him and saw a couple w/an undo bow-tie that looked a little Bond-ish.* Is that the one? Yeah, I guess I could see him as Bruce Wayne: Billionaire Playboy. I don't think any of the Bats I've seen on screen have really managed that well, except maybe Clooney (who, unfortunately imo was not up to the rest of the role).
*I also saw a couple of shots where it looked as if he'd recently been kidnapped by a Marine's barber; his security staff needs to get on that, because that never, ever should have been allowed.
There was a rumor in November that Anne Hathaway was being considered. I love her as an actress but I can't picture her... Another name thrown around was Rachel McAdams, I love her too and actually I can picture her as Lois.

I know I would not object if he, uh, attempted to save me from evil-doers.

I would support a Rachel McAdams Lois. I remember when I saw the previews for "Morning Glory" thinking she seemed very fresh and funny.
