Now I'M the one late to this party! I just read this and absolutely *loved* it. I am a complete sucker for Chlollie/Chlark, and this was so beautifully written. You showed us everything that's right about the Chlollie relationship, but also everything that WAS so right about Chlark, as well. No matter what Jor-El says, it's clear that Clark never could have been a hero without Chloe, because she represents everything that's human about him.

Lovely, lovely work!

Thank you. Looking back at Chlark for me is so bittersweet, and all the more so when Chlollie throws it into relief. I like to think that on some level Clark recognizes that too.

And Jor-El is a psychopathic ass.

I'm sure that I've read this before. Shame on me if I didn't comment. :) I love how detached, yet conflicted he is. It's like he's constantly self analysing along with everyone else. It's like his programming, Kal-El or whoever it is, keeps having to over write Clark re-emerging. :D I love your complex, psychological way of approaching mannerism, thoughts and decisions.

It's Kal-El's reasoning, that his intent is for greater focus on the mission, but it's Clark's jealous that Chloe's no longer fixed and prepared to sacrifice everything for him. :P At least that's how I read it. :D She's no longer orbiting his sun. And sadly, I've used up my net time quota, but it was worth it! To reread

"Kal-El" was very fun to write. He's very pragmatic and a little Spock-like. I'm sorry in a lot of ways the show didn't seem to remember that story -- I thought it would have been an appropriate reference last year (esp. considering that Lois technically met Kal-El before she met Clark).

I think Clark's always been rather conflicted, but whereas in the past the conflict was between having his powers and yet still wanting to be human, more recently (or at least last season) it became about embracing his biology & his Kryptonian heritage despite the way it separated him from other people. I pushed that angle a little further than the show did, but I think even the show's version of Clark must have felt terribly alone at times, especially when confronted with two friends who'd developed such a strong connection.
