Dull Day

I spent pretty much all of today cleaning. My room is almost clean. I vacuumed for the second time since we move back here! I think tomorrow I'll be heading down to target to buy some under-the-bed-boxes since under the bed is pretty much the last place left to store things. Hopefully having things more in order will help me concentrate on the ( Read more... )

I was pretty good about getting things done until a few weeks ago when my motivation vanished. It may be time to get a job. The kind that pays $6.50 an hour and is tedious. Just to get me out of the house more often then not, and to remind me why I need to get this art thing to work.
I completely understand. I've been there before, and it's good to recognize that it's happening and do something before it gets out of hand. It's already starting to happen to me, and I'm doing everything I can to stave it off. It helps that you and the music guy are involved in this film because I can tell myself "they can't finish their part until you finish yours, so move your butt ( ... )

Working on things with other people seems to be the best way to stay motivated. I may be applying at Jo-anne ETC too. The holiday season has past, but they still have help wanted signs up, so I might stand a chance. I sort of had luck with them the first time I went looking for a summer job. I got hired, but only for two days. >.< They were rearranging the store, and there was a project manager who had no say in the temp hires. The store manager hired mostly people who couldn't do much heavy lifting, which rather displeased the project manager. After two days, they sent everyone but the three strong people home and said not to come back. I don't know if that job history would help or hurt when it comes to working there. I doubt a coffee shop would hire me. I don't know how to work a normal coffee machine, not to mention their crazy complicated ones. As long as I manage to stay away from the fast food joints I'll be good. I could always do tech support with my boyfriend, since they'll hire anyone who speaks english.

...really? I'm not completely computer stupid. How do you get into doing that? Does is pay decently?

I think if you just explain the situation with Jo-Anne's they'll understand, it's not as if you were dismissed for doing something bad. Good luck! :D I'd like to try for their framing department again, but I'll wait until I hear about the teaching job.

As for coffee, don't they teach you how to work the machines?

It pays pretty well (I think $9 an hour, plus time and a half if you work over 40 hrs). It's also got benifits for anyone who works over 30 hours a week (I think). The company's called Teleperformance and you can apply online. Also if you have a refferral from a current employee, both you and the person who refferred you get a bonus at 3 months and again at 6 months of employment. I think if I did it, I would ask to be part of the iPod tech support. John's sister is doing iPod tech support, and she says it's pretty easy.

I hope you get the teaching job. It's more related to our field then the other possible jobs.

Regarding the coffee, I'm sure there is some sort of training, but when I've apply/talked to people at the coffee shops that tend to want someone who already has some understanding of the equipment. It's possible it was just the one I was inquiring at.
