I'd like to offer constructive criticism, but I can't think of any way to make this better so you'll just have to settle for a glowing review :)

I like how Ianto can tell Jack will be bringing up the subject again once they're alone. I love how his father was disappointed in Ianto's choice of play, but more because he wanted something better for his son than just because 'my son's playing with doll clothes?!' I can tell from the few on-screen comments Ianto has made about his dad that they were close, so I think the latter reaction wouldn't have fit what we know about him. This way worked really well and still had me sympathizing with Ianto while sticking to what we know of canon.

I really liked this fic and it is definitely being saved to my lj memories. (sorry about my lengthy post. I think I need a disclaimer that says "English Lit student: analyzing brain does not turn off"

Aww, you're too sweet!

Since we don't know about Ianto's family relationships (well, at least we won't until the end of CoE) I didn't want it to be the dysfunctional father/son relationship I've seen in a lot of fics. And I never wanted it to seem that Ianto was disappointed he was an archivist but that he knew his father wanted him to be more out of love and the desire for his son to have a better life. I really hope that came across.

"My" should be "me" or you're missing a word, I think.
