Jason is incredibly bored already. He's explored everything he can explore, he's chafing at the confines while trying to avoid his family, and he's curious about everyone else but is getting tired of trolling through the journals. However, he scorns conventional socialization.
What about an IC game of
murder/mafia/werewolf? If you're not familiar with this party game, it may sound insanely complicated, but it's really not: we don't have to play the game for REAL, we can just decide who is who and get to do the fun parts, i.e. people reacting to each other while trying to figure out who is the "bad guy".
I don't think this is a very serious plot so it probably won't interfere with anything, though it could possibly ratchet up some paranoia. It would basically be any character who is interested participating in a party game as an excuse to socialize.
Some murder/mafia/werewolf game basics: there are two "sides" to the game, the townspeople and the mafia. Everyone is secretly assigned a role belonging to either side. Then there are two "modes" to the game, day and night. During the day, the townspeople try to figure out who is part of the mafia and eliminate them. During the night, the mafia secretly meet and choose a person to be killed. During the ensuing day, the GM informs people what has happened, and the townspeople react. The game ends either when the mafia outnumber the townspeople or the townspeople eliminate all the mafia.
There are specific roles for each side. To keep things VERY simple, townspeople are simply uninformed players; there is usually a "detective" (sometimes more than one if there are enough people) who may ask the GM if a player is a mafioso, and possibly a "guardian" who can choose to protect one person during the night (either themselves or someone else).
Obviously, by instigating the game, Jason would be the GM, and take care of game mechanics. Instead of actually playing out the game (though we could do that if you wanted!), we would simply OOCly decide ahead of time who is who, and let our characters bother each other about it.
MAYBE THIS IS TOTALLY POINTLESS?? Idk, I'm just trying to think of creative ways for Jason to make people uncomfortable/tense. What do you think? If there's enough interest (we'll need at least seven characters to play) then woo, but I realize I have weird ideas. >_> I imagine that Jason wouldn't even ask people if they wanted to play, he would just leave role assignments at people's doors and just see if people would respond.
