Summer was sitting at the bar, people watching. The Barge wasn't exactly a place where one could just sit down, relax and escape coworkers, what with everything being so cramped all the time. Plus? The ghosts knocking on the door didn't help. So now, she was enjoying being a wallflower.
NEVAR BORING, BUT MAYBE SHORTbuildindreemzOctober 22 2011, 22:37:08 UTC
"So how do you like Paris?" Ariadne asks with a little smile and a magnanimous wave of her wine glass. Clearly, she is looking for a positive assessment. Don't ruin her night, Summer.
Luckily, Summer thought Paris was pretty cool, so she smiled at the other woman and sort of motioned at the whole... area with her hand. "It's amazing. I mean, it's not how I thought my first trip to Paris would be," she shrugged, taking a drink. "But it's nice. Especially 'cause the Admiral's paying."
"Take what you can get, right?" Ariadne responded with a grin. "The last time I was here, I was on a grad student's starvation budget, but it's actually surprising what you can do with limited funds, if you just know where to look. Still, this is nice, too."
LATE TO THE PARTY, BUT OPEN!notarrowetteOctober 23 2011, 05:47:45 UTC
Cissie really didn't know what to expect; she hadn't known Ariadne very well when she'd been on the Barge before, and with everything going on lately, she'd been really bad at meeting the new arrivals. It felt like she'd been hit with one blow after another recently, and they had taken a toll. But she was determined to enjoy Paris, and even though it felt very strange to be going to a Barge Girls' Night with so many girls she didn't even know, she went with every intention of being friendly and having a good time. She was a little nervous as she went to meet the others, though. She hung back, letting them take the lead and being a bit quieter than she might have been, even a few months ago.
Chromie had a knack of appearing out of nowhere. Right next to people. She did speak softly, though - she wasn't into startling people on purpose, really.
Late but she said she'd be there!jillykitzingerOctober 23 2011, 14:09:01 UTC
Knowing literally no one on the Barge wasn't going to stop Jilly from meeting everyone. In time; she wasn't going to stalk the avenues of Paris to get it done. A girls' night would be a good start. She was wearing one of her new dresses and a new scarf, courtesy of the credit card. She ordered a glass of wine and looked around.
Angua was still deeply, deeply wary of this whole venture, but she'd said she'd give it another go, and so she was here. If she somehow died tonight, let it be said she went down swinging.
Her own credit card had given her some modern togs, and she was even trying out a dress tonight, but she still felt rather out of time and out of place. She found herself gravitating towards Jilly, who looked, on the contrary, entirely at ease. "What she's having," she told the bartender, sitting down next to the redhead with a slightly sheepish expression. "Er. Hi. I'm Angua."
"Hi there, Angua. I'm Jilly." She offered her hand with a smile. "Crazy in here tonight, isn't it? I have only the vaguest idea of who's from the Barge and who isn't. I've been watching the network, but I couldn't make my own broadcast until we got here because of all that damnable static."
Angua shook her hand, with a grip that sort of implied, if not outright suggested, that she spent the vast majority of her time around men. "Really? How long have you been around?" She glanced around the club... As it was, she didn't recognize anyone but Ariadne, who'd sort of reluctantly invited her. And she didn't have Jilly's built-in excuse. "I think most of... this lot, here..." She gestured vaguely to where Ariadne and Summer sat.
