Franklin was pacing his room. Things had not gone as he had planned at all. Wanda was protected, she was safe but she wasn't happy. It didn't make any sense to him. But he couldn't let her go--that crazy vampire was still out there and who knows what could happen? The very thought of Wanda getting hurt at all---no. No. He wouldn't think of it.

Luke's knocking startled him, and he jumped, staring at the door wide-eyed. He couldn't deal with Luke right now. Luke wouldn't understand and he'd just further mess things up.

"Go away, Luke. Please, just go away." Far from steady, his voice sounds downright scared.

Oh yeah, definitely not what he wanted to hear. While he'd read Franklin's file, it hadn't been really all that descriptive, simply giving the details of the occurrence that had brought him here in the first place. He didn't like it, but he had to act under the assumption that Franklin was dangerous.

"I can't do that Franklin. I need to come in there and I'd rather you opened the door rather than me having to come through it."

Wanda had greyed out the last half hour. It was half despair, half a sort of timeless exhaustion from crying so much. She couldn't understand. Franklin was obviously worried for her and wanted to make this better, but he wouldn't do the one thing that would--letting her go. It was like he loved her but he was also...oh Gods, that word.

Crazy.

Luke's voice outside sent a faint surge of hope through her; she raised her head slightly and blinked, her first movements in too long.

At the sound of movement, Franklin vamp-rushed into the bedroom, looking at Wanda with suddenly hopeful eyes. She was alright! He swiped quickly at his tears with his shirt sleeve. Everything would be fine now!

...But it wasn't. She wasn't. Not smiling and happy and the Wanda that had shared her first kiss with him. She was still... wrong. Broken somehow. Why why why? Franklin returned to the main room and growled, low in his throat, frustrated. Nothing was going right.

The door was unlocked and he stepped back from it. He moved to the center of the room, hugging himself tightly, and just waited.
