Wanda came in with Wally, looking ragged, bruised, and absolutely terrified to be there. She wasn't in hand or fighting or trying to escape; though she had to close her eyes to walk through the door, it was pretty obviously done of her own will. She collapsed into a sitting position once she and Wally were inside the cell, and they started a quiet conversation with him. But the longer she stayed in the cell, the more unresponsive and balled-up she seemed to become, as if she were withdrawing completely.

It took Narvin a while to find Wanda. Last he'd heard, she was going to the CES, so he checked there first, but when he felt no trace of another mind, he wandered the ship wondering where else she might have gone. Not her room (although he walked by and put his hand on the door to see if he could feel a presence there, just in case), not the deck. She had been terrified of her powers and had recommended that Sveta go to Zero to contain her powers, so perhaps ( ... )

Wanda unballed and looked up slowly. Her mind skipped again, and she saw another cell for a moment, concrete floored and even more dreary. But she pulled herself together, and found herself shuffling for the door. She peered at him in confusion and opened her mouth to ask the man where his wheelchair was, and was it time for her session?

But then a lurch inside her head, and she stopped a few feet away, a slightly confused look on her face. "Wally stayed with me. Thank you for coming to tell us. I can't feel anything like this."

A ghost of a smile. "Hello Narvin. Thanks...for letting me know." She felt terrible about how this had doubtless ended, but gods...at least it was done.

Kay's message and his commendation made her lips tremble; she swallowed. "I'm glad. This hit home. I used to be the one who was the walking disaster and I don't...want to anymore.

One day...I'll know how to disrupt powers well enough that I'll be able to stop things like this. It's what I've asked to focus on with Tony."

Iroh gave a little time for Shendu to calm down before going to Level Zero. His robes were scorched, and he had a slight limp and a bruise on his cheekbone from their fight and the subsequent thrashing, firebreathing path downstairs, but overall it could have been much worse.

When he saw his Inmate sitting in the cell, though, he knew the demon had abated before he could see his eyes. There was something in Valmont's posture that he never saw in Shendu's.

"Valmont," he said softly, coming to the cell door.

Valmont shifted up from his position at the back of his cell, then winced, and eased back down. It hurt to move, so screw it, Iroh could come to him if he wanted them to be any closer together than this.

"Do I even want to know what I did to get here?"

The problem of how to refer to himself when acting under Shendu's control had always been a somewhat awkward one, but Valmont really didn't feel like referring to himself as "we". It was a strange sensation, but there were times when he knew that Shendu was conscious in the back of his mind. Times when he was attentive to their surroundings, and forever on the brink of pushing through, and wresting control of their his body from him. This was one of those times.

"Nothing," Iroh said, and there was clear regret in his tone - he'd never wanted to do this, to confine Valmont while protecting the Barge from Shendu. "Lord Shendu, however, was reluctant to limit whatever damage he would cause under the influence of the curse. We fought. Under the circumstances, this was the better place to bring you."

He unlocked the door to the cell and stepped inside, relocking it before he sat down across from Valmont.

"I have brought wrappings for your burns, and water. And I hope that you will accept my apologies for inflicting a punishment on you that you have done nothing to deserve."

"It's fine. I'm prepared to assume that he didn't leave you with a huge amount of choice in the matter."

There's a hint of bitterness in his tone there, but Shendu doesn't interrupt. He closes his hands gingerly, feeling the sensation of tingling, painful heat running through them.

"So, I've noticed that I'm not choking on fire anymore. Did someone end up getting to that girl?"

...Yeah, he's not talking about getting to her emotionally.
