Arthas was busy - or at least, not engaged in the sort of business she needed to be present for - and Shego was investing the time off in a bit of shopping. The place was a goldmine for the sort of craftsmanship not offered in better-regulated waystations, and there were some jobs that required more subtlety than her plasma blasters.

She was going from one successful transaction to what would hopefully be the venue of the next, cutting through a dark service passage, when she became aware of someone nearby. A mugger? Surely nobody was so stupid. She left it only long enough to confirm she was being trailed before reaching into her coat, pointing her sidearm unerringly into the darkness she'd just left behind.

Creeping around behind Shego probably wasn't the best idea, considering his current circumstances, but Jim had been waiting for an opportune moment to make his approach. Step forward too quickly or speak too openly, and there was a good chance she wouldn't take his offer seriously, or worse, that she'd suspect he was trying to trick her and turn him down. When she pointed her weapon at him, it became apparent that his time waiting for the right opportunity had expired, so it was with a professional smile on his face, that Jim finally dug the credit chip he'd filched from the Doctor out of his pocket, and stepped forward into the light,

"It's Shego, isn't it? I was hoping for the chance to talk business with you."

He gestured towards her gun, keeping the credit chip easily visible, "That shouldn't be necessary, but if it makes you more comfortable, feel free to keep it pointed at me."

"Don't patronize me, you slick little creep. What do you want?"

"What? No pleasantries?" Jim glanced to the side, pursing his lips as if disappointed, "All right, being as I'm hoping to enlist your services, I won't object. I need you and your colleague, Arthas, to take a holiday for a couple of weeks. Go as far away from here as you can, for whatever reason you can think of. I'll pay for everything, and when you go?" He twisted the credit chip in his fingers lightly, "You take this with you."

She arched an eyebrow at him. "You realize that I have a gun and all you have is a suit you busted out of a museum? If there was anything on that chip I wanted badly enough, I'd shoot out both your kneecaps and I'd take it. How about an actual reason for this little excusion?"

"Right now there's fifty thousand credits immediately available on this, after you're off world I'll unlock the rest of the funds, and that limit will increase considerably. You don't have anything to lose by taking up my offer, and if in you get off world and find that the credit on this isn't more than that? You can come back, and you still keep the money. Is that enough of a reason for you?"

So it was a lie, Jim still told it smoothly enough and really, he doubted that Shego would know or care about that if she saw how much money was on the chip. If she pressed him on his reason for wanting them gone, he was sure he could come up with something, but hopefully the money would be enough.

Her eyes narrowed and she aimed her gun pointedly at his right knee. "Your reason, creepers. What's going down that you don't want Menethil around for?"

Jim pursed his lips, considering how best to explain this without... actually explaining it.

"There's somebody looking for him here, and it's in my best interests that they don't meet." He slid his hands into his pockets, still smiling distantly, "To be perfectly honest it's in his best interests as well. I hope you'll understand that there's a certain limitation on how much detail I can go into here? The less you know, the less chances you have of passing the information on, if you decide not to accept my offer."

She aimed an inch to the left of his foot and pulled the trigger just because he was irritating - it made a noise no louder than a shout, but left a smoking black mark in the metal next to the toe of his shoe.

Difficult to tell what the game was here. Menethil was a tool, he was useless pretty much everywhere except in a fight. There were no strategic meetings coming up that she would be dragging him away from; if they were being shepherded into a trap, he would have told her to take him someplace specific. If there was a genuine threat to Arthas' life here, honesty would have been a better investment than cash in confronting his bodyguard. Which left...

She smiled rigidly.

"You're representing somebody he's had a run-in with before." It wasn't a question, really.

Jim willed himself to keep still when Shego shifted her grip on the gun. He closed his eyes as the sound of the gunshot exploded, waiting for the shot of pain through his leg... which never came. Taking a deep breath, he opened his eyes again, and smiled faintly.

"You could say that. Someone whose business here will be concluded in a few days, and who fully intends to stay out of Arthas's life from here on out."

He folded his arms, casually, waiting for her response.

OS19 was a shithole. Their business on board would be over within twelve hours, there'd be no reason to stick around, and Arthas was always grouchy after official meetings. Talking him into a couple weeks' getaway would be child's play; as for Shego herself, well - she rarely needed encouragement to take time off. If some pathological coward who'd come off the worst with Arthas in the past wanted to pay his way to making sure they didn't meet again, who was she to argue?

"Give me the chip and I'll think about it."

"Think hard, and leave soon."

Jim held out the chip, letting Shego take it from him.

"You're an intelligent person, I trust you to do what's best for the both of you in this situation."

"Uh huh."

She reached out to grab his wrist with one hand, turned her gun around with the other and slammed the butt of it into the side of his head. His body went predictably slack and she plucked the chip from between his fingers before letting him drop. Hopefully he'd be feeling that for the next few days.

"Nice doing business with you."
