"Hey, Jason, take it easy-"

The warden was on his feet as soon as the vigilante started moving to get up, putting a hand on his shoulder to stop him. Obviously the flood was over - obviously, Jason wasn't a kid, not really, and didn't look beat to shit anymore - but he'd been in rough shape when Patrick had met up with him and Bruce in the common room. He'd stayed with him in the infirmary since they'd brought him up here, and while he might not be an expert, he can tell a nightmare had startled the kid back to consciousness, so even if he was physically fine... there was still a lot of stuff to consider.

"How are you feelin'?"

The look Jason shoots Patrick is probably the most hostile one to date, but it's of the moment, there's no real venom behind it; it's the same as when a wild animal is startled and bites by instinct, though at least Jason doesn't actually bite (or otherwise attempt to injure) him. There's just a moment where the potential rears its head between them.

"I'm fine." He says tightly, and his voice sounds wrong, weirded out, old. Sliding away from Patrick's hand, he stands up, hearing dirt hit the floor. Part of him still thinks he should hurt all over, the shoulder Patrick touched especially. It's pathetic, it really is. Because that's where (he dreamt) Bruce grabbed him and held on like he might slip away. "I'm gonna go. Shower."

The look does startle him a little, although there's only a slight flash of surprise before he's back to being his usual relaxed self, and he doesn't move to touch Jason again, even if he wasn't backing off.

"Okay. I'll walk down with you."

Because like hell he was just letting the kid wander off by himself after what had happened. He still wasn't sure what Bruce had done to him when he'd first run into him - more concerned with getting Jason medical attention then anything thing else, Bruce and his issues could go fuck themselves - but he knew whatever had happened, it would have really done a number on his inmate, something the hostility and tight tone of voice confirmed. He knew the kid probably wanted to go off and lick his wounds by himself, but he wasn't leaving.

His jaw sets and he moves off quickly without objecting, because objecting won't do any good. He has slightly longer legs than Patrick, and he'll use them, taking the stairs instead of the elevator. He falters when he gets to the fourth floor, because there are actual remnants here, the blood and the streaks of dirt charting his progress along the hall. Fucking Barge. Fuck this. He's actually slammed his hand into the wall before he knows what he's doing, because this isn't — it isn't that simple. To just say 'this is what would have happened if Talia hadn't picked you off the street'. It's not true, and it doesn't matter. It's not what happened.

He can feel Patrick behind him. "Would you fuck off?"
