Who: Bruce, Jason, anybody who happens to be passing by (Patrick??) Where: level four common room When: floodtiems Warnings/Notes: NOOOOOOOO! (That's a comic book yell of horror, FYI.)
It isn't that he is in some place that he has never seen before that shocks him - sometimes that's known to happen, and he has explanations. Mxyzptlk. Adam Strange and his Zeta-Beams. Teleportation. And though he loathes to admit it- magic, as well. He can deal. He can even deal with the fact that someone has replicated his room and his Cave.
But he has a communicator and he knows enough to look through it. There's information to be found. This isn't the problem. This isn't the priority.
Jason is.
There's a Jason here. He sees himself, older- a months, a few years, something like that- that's not the problem, he's seen that before. They call that world 'Earth-2', or something like that. He frankly doesn't care- no, it's who 'he' is talking to. Jason. Jason is here- Jason is here and looking older than he had when he died and Bruce knows that it's Clayface. It has to be Clayface

The relief he would've expected to feel upon seeing Bruce sputters out immediately. The number of times in his life he's felt afraid of Bruce are actually pretty few, considering how scary Bruce can be, but the expression on his face the way he grabs Jason by the collar Jason is slow to struggle in his injured state but this isn't right, and he can feel the fear breaking through the haze of pain. It's not just a visceral reaction, though, it's what Bruce says as well. He's argued with Bruce before, he's stood up to him plenty of times, but this is different. This is the first time he fucked up so badly he died (a small part of his mind still rebels at the concept, but there's not much else that would explain being fucking buried), and Bruce is angry. Why wouldn't he be

The voice is soft, urgent, trying to get him to listen but he can't- he can't. There's no reason why Jason is alive. He can't be- Bruce has tried everything and- the one here must be a fake. He's an inmate, a criminal and Jason will never be that. Never. His son died a hero; died protecting his mother and Bruce buried him as a hero- even if it's a hero he failed.
He can't be alive. It's impossible. This must be a fake- the future him must've been fooled somehow, because this is simply not possible. He had just seen Jason turn back into Clayface so why is the thing trying this trick again? Why is he trying to worsen his own situation? Is he trying to send Bruce into an uncontrollable rage?
Bruce is pinning Clayface to the couch, his knee sinking beside him. He knows his name- it's stark in his mind. Clayface knows his name- and for a moment he forgets he's not in costume and maybe Clayface knows who he really is too- or maybe Jason is alive- no it cannot be

For all the focus the situation manages to draw out of him, the implications still swim feverishly in his aching head before settling. Clayface. So Bruce isn't mad at him (well, that remains to be seen), it's that he thinks Jason is an impostor. Now relief should come, but it doesn't, because Bruce is implacable, the anger is still directed at him, and it's hard for him to think when what he really wants to do is pass out. That's tempting; Bruce will figure it out eventually, after all. But he's slept enough
