While Amanda was sitting on the beach in a pool of her own resentment and negativity, Sarah was flourishing. This was her environment. This was her element. She loved the outdoors - spent most of her time sitting in the African grasslands, watching predators through night-vision goggles, enjoying the fresh air and the earthy scents.

Granted, the beach wasn't a grassland, but Amanda was a predator, so this would be a bit like normal life.

At her inmate's question, she glanced down at the other woman, then around at the beautiful view before her. This was a paradise, and her inmate was worried about eating.

"We'll just have to make due," she replied cheerfully. "Don't worry, Amanda. When it's time to go back, you'll be wishing you never had to leave." Even if it meant having to teach her everything there was to know about surviving in the great outdoors, Sarah was going to enjoy this port. She felt alive and vital, standing in the sand beside her inmate. "Come on. Fire first, then food."

"I sincerely fuckin' doubt that," she muttered to herself as she got to her feet. She was marginally aware that she was being petulant, but didn't care.

Once standing, she directed a shrug and a particularly nasty, sarcastic expression at her warden. "If you wanna start a fire, go ahead and do it already."

Wasn't she just the cheerful one? Sarah eyed her flatly for a moment, then turned her attention to the dense foliage that grew beyond the beach. It was definitely tropical - very much like Costa Rica (and the islands around it), actually. She wondered if there was a freshwater stream. It wouldn't surprise her.

She couldn't just leave Amanda, though.

"Let's head in that way," she said, pointing to a break in the undergrowth. "We'll collect some wood, and hopefully find water - and food - while we're at it. How's that?"

"Don't speak to me as if I'm a child," she replied, and headed through the undergrowth. She waited for Sarah on the other side (she'd be stupid to step out into the jungle alone when she didn't know a goddamn thing about how to survive it)...she just wanted a moment away from the ingratiatingly positive woman.
