[He's not the first to visit, but eventually, Slade does stop by to see how Chang is doing. His own wounds are healing already so he's feeling less battle-torn; other things are on his mind, though.]
[That's good. There's a brief pause before he says anything.]
You need anything?
[It's not pity that makes him offer (what use is that between people like them?), though he does wish he could have given Chang the final end he sought.]
Kay stalked around the infirmary until he was sure that Chang's woken up, as a cultural nicety. Sure, there's no free-roaming Targs, but its what you do for a friend.
When he noticed him stirring, he went over near the bed to give him a quiet look. Not chiding or reprimanding. Almost an acknowledgement of, Yup. Still alive.
[Chang looked back at him as soon as he managed to focus on who, where and why he was. Beyond the confusion, there is a bone-weary sadness. An uncertainty of what his death meant. Nothing? No more significant than if he suffered through a serious injury and then restored? He wondered if this was how McCoy's patients felt if he brought them back through the miracle of Federation technology. That could be why Klingons were afraid of such progress, aside from mollycoddling their patients, perhaps it was fundamentally wrong.

[He watched him, wondering what he's thinking. Actually, vaguely able to guess what he was thinking. He put a hand on his shoulder (he had pretty big, rough, heavy hands for a human) and gave him a steady look.]
Chang had been watching the various comings and goings of people passing, idly thinking about killing them. Even his imagination couldn't pretend that the doctors and support staff offered sufficient challenge, so it was with interest that he eyed Braxiatel as he arrived.
A man as contained as he, it could either be a cover for being a weakling on a ship of powerful beings or a cover that he was one of those powers. Perhaps he was feeling sentimental, but he'd rather hoped it was the latter.

Bored. So we talk to the other unfortunate bastards.]
Who was it, Amanda's satellite?
[As far as he knew, Amanda and Hoffman were the only two active killers aboard at the moment. It paid to know the competition.]
