"You're hardly going to learn anything if you go into every conversation with that attitude," the Doctor remarked, for the most part eminently casual, but occasionally glancing about at the room with a faint air of discomfort. Although the choice of location made sense, in a way, this environment didn't exactly encourage open discussion. Admittedly, it wasn't as though anyone was actually being held here, but he'd never quite been a fan of prison cells.

Then again, it was entirely possible that no small measure of his discomfort was due to the fact that this was already shaping up to be the most time he'd spent face-to-face with his previous self. It was almost more off-putting, really, to see him than it was with his regenerations from the more distant past. But this wasn't meant to be about that. This was about trying to help Rayne's inmate, and that was what the Doctor intended to do. Well. Possibly. If they could even get past the initial hurdle of convincing him to listen.

Nine was leaning with his back against the wall, arms tightly crossed, observing. Both his elder self and Adam were receiving just about equal scrutiny from his passively curious blue eyes. It was just hard not to stare at that hair. Still, at least his future self was shorter. Not by much. But, still.

No, he wasn't jealous. No, not at all.

Clearing his throat, he focused back on Adam, seeming to completely ignore the interaction thus far.

"So. You're like Claire, then. Your special ability." He stated matter-of-factly. "Had a long life, have you?"
