"Who did it?" Elle demanded. No, she was not planning on beating around the bush today, nor was she particularly interested in exchanging all the usual, boring pleasantries.

Elle gritted her teeth. "I'm asking because I want to know the answer. And I don't care whether you want to talk about it or not, I want to know who did it." She snatched the glass of water out of his hand and replaced it on the table, just out of easy reach. No distractions, no excuses, she was getting the answer out of him for his own good.
