[Martha is actually never really on time for meals. Well, it's a rarity. She normally shows up early or late, and very often not for breakfast. However, the night before she worked the overnight, and subsequently is starving for something that isn't just coffee. With a hopeful look, she popped into the kitchen.]

Hello?

[Mal looks up and at the sight of Martha, smiles and waves.]

Good morning, Martha.

[When there was the smile and wave, Martha grinned back, and wandered over towards Mal. She grinned and tried her school-boasted by the year French.]

Bonjour, Mal, comment êtes-vous?

3:30 PM - Haunting the library cauchemal January 31 2011, 21:28:48 UTC
[She's starting to get a little tired of wandering past the same shelves over and over again. But she's not sure what else to do with herself.]

[Elphaba, meanwhile, is browsing through the books in the library, picking up and glancing through medical textbooks. She knew she was only going to be doing basic first aid and handing out medicine, being the support staff, but she was curious about all the new machines she'd seen in there, and any other advances that Oz had never discovered. Then she saw the woman, and, remembering she was supposed to be more conversational, spoke.]

"It's amazing that in Oz they could figure out how to create a tik tok man, but not that electricity could resuscitate the recently deceased."

[Mal has seen Elphaba around, of course; the witch is unmistakable. But to hear her talking about Oz like that ... She looks sharply at the nearest shelves, half expecting to see the complete works of L. Frank Baum somewhere nearby. They're not, of course; that would be elementary dream-building, novice work.]

...yes, I suppose that is rather incredible.

"I suppose it's all about priorities." She snapped the book closed, planning to read it more thoroughly in the privacy in her room later.

6:30 PM - The deck cauchemal January 31 2011, 21:29:49 UTC
[Skipping dinner today, which happens once a week or so. She's out for a walk on deck, stargazing, being careful not to venture too close to the rail as usual.]

6:30 PM - The deck - make this a day before he freaks out at donny. 453gof_flesh January 31 2011, 21:44:35 UTC
Clapet was on an adventure to the top deck. He hadn't felt like doing much one way or another of late, so simply rolled himself up to the deck, as he already felt restricted enough in the chair, never mind being cooped up inside. So he rolled himself across the deck, smoking a cigarette as he did so, spotting Mal ahead of him,]

Madame! Mal, even! Bonsoir.

[She smiled and raised a hand in greeting and walking to meet him.]

Bonsoir, monsieur. How does the evening find you?

[Clapet gave her a casual shrug,] Well enough, madame. [He was lying, but that was standard at this point.]

Anything in particular bring you up here? [He takes a drag off his cigarette, then offers her the pack, realising it was rude to so anything else.]
