She had to laugh a few times about it to keep herself from dwelling on the bad things that had been happening.
So when she heard the knock, she got out of bed and padded over to the door, wrapping a robe around herself tightly. She opened the door and blinked.
"Harper?" She was surprised, but not upset.

He opened his mouth, fully intending to explain himself to her, when... against all his conscious judgment, something completely different emerged,
"All the planets in the world
And so very little time, and
So many different girls...
When all I had to do was find you
Every wasted opportunity, each breakdown, each emergency
A lifetime I spent trying to run away from being somebody

"Harper..." She stepped back, though it was an invitation, rather than her pulling away. A somewhat desperate invitation, as she felt just hauling him in wouldn't do any good. But, as she looked down, waiting for him to come in, her voice came through clear in song, her years of training obviously coming through.
"The dawn is breaking
A light shining through
You're barely waking
And I'm tangled up in you
I'm open, you're closed
Where I follow, you'll go
I worry I won't see your face
Light up again."And here she choked up in embarrassment, turning away, though she continued to sing, looking up to the ceiling, praying for ( ... )

That was one hell of a voice Uhura had on her. He forced himself to try and focus on what she was actually saying. He could pick up bits of it, he didn't quite understand all of it, but the bit about them colliding sounded good to him. Not quite like he was getting kicked out yet, at least. When she finished, he took a deep breath,
"I-- Jeeze. Uhura, your voice, it's..."
He trailed off. After all that singing it was kind of hard to find the right words, now.
"...I'm sorry."
