Dorian was starving. He'd been up and about a little bit in these few days after leaving the infirmary, but hadn't been eating much because it required going to the dining hall. He'd gone once a day, maybe twice, and each day was strange. He was aware there was a flood going on, but as with the last one, didn't know just what was going on. This time, just because he had been avoiding most everyone and sitting, smoking in the dark ( ... )

That voice. Armand knew that voice. He looked up from his soup and groaned. But then he sighed, put down his spoon and stood up. "Why hello, Dorian. I didn't think you'd be anxious to see me again." He forced a smile, and looked around the cafeteria. As far as he could tell there were no other seats. How did that happen?

"Would you care to join me for dinner?"

He wasn't entirely pleased to see Armand, however on the other hand, it seemed there wasn't a soul on board this barge who was pleased to see him, and so instead of saying something snide, he held his tongue and made an effort to look pleasant. He wasn't entirely sure whether it would be preferable to eat alone or with Armand, but it seemed he didn't have a choice, really.

"It seems there isn't another option," he said. It came off rudely, though it was also clearly an observation on the strange state of the dining hall.

This meal would, however, be awkward. He had hardly tried to save Armand, and frankly didn't feel terribly guilty about that.

Armand didn't quite know Dorian hadn't tried. He hasn't been able the face the most disrupted audio posts that were recorded, and since he cut Dorian loose, he thought it best just to leave the man's business be. He knew Doran had failed, but that's hardly the same thing.

Upon the acceptance to this invitation, Armand sat back down. He squinted at the table. With only the candlelight to see by, he thought the glasses that had only had water in them before might have another liquid, more a pale gold color now than clear. He should be able to see better in candlelight, but he's grown used to the electric lights on the Barge. What was going on here?

"I didn't ask for it, but the staff gave me far too much food if you want to supplement your own dinner." Even if he hadn't eaten properly for some time, he never had a large appetite.
