He heard the man's footfall, so reacted without surprise when he called out to him. He wasn't who he was looking for, but realised his potential use in a battle situation. "I do," he replied, equally quietly. "Chang."
Brennan found herself in an empty bookshop. Other storefronts were visible through the glass wall, making this part of a mall or similar shopping complex. A quick rustle through the cashier's desk turned up a flashlight, few keys, a pile of store receipts, and a pocket guide to ornithology, the first of which she borrowed.
She spotted the others as soon as she'd exited into the mall proper. She didn't make much noise until she was near them, wanting to avoid alerting the locals - whoever they were - to their presence. In response to Booth, she said, "Another question would be how do we get back?"

Chang swung the new samurai sword he'd found through the zombie, cutting the woman clean in half. It was no bat'leth but it had its uses, which was obvious from the numerous bloodstains already on it. "Infernal weeping," he growled quietly, catching the sobs of a nearby witch. It was a shame that these things were attracted by sound, for he'd had to abandon his chainsaw pretty quickly.
Aleera had been getting sleepy. She was a nocturnal creature and had warned them that, if they ever did abandon this fortress, she would not be able to follow them outside in the daylight. She was getting ready for sleep, not combat and walked out with an annoyed expression.
Too bad there hadn't been much chance to get to know her inmate. Survival situations were all about planning and patrols.
"How did they enter?" She demanded. "Were the doors not locked?"
"They are stairs that move," Chang replied, near Booth. Metallic stairs that move were not technology he was used to, particularly, but he had the advantage of knowing technology when he saw it and not to be phased by it.
He was rarely using his propulsion weapon, given his eye issue he couldn't be guaranteed not to hit friendlies, and in this case it was too likely he'd hit them.
He started flinging heavy objects over the side onto the undead below. Curiously, some of them began to explode, spraying acid over the place. Well, they weren't planning on heading back down for a while anyway.
