Who: Major West, Billy Costigan, Paddy, and Shinzon; [CLOSED] Where: On deck When: The day after the flood ends What: Paddy, Costigan, and West decide Shinzon needs a little old school education. Warnings: Lots and lots of violence.
He had cried, when he'd first found his way out here. Cried and wished he'd never have to leave, never have to return to the black pit of the dilithium mines. The Romulans told him he would be a starship captain - and then they buried him where he would never see the sun or stars. Seeing it then, for the first time in years - long before Shinzon actually saw the stars again - had nearly been too much. He'd slept up here. He'd barely left
( ... )
Paddy certainly couldn't do much about that, and shook his fist, because he hadn't anticipated hitting Shinzon's arm at all, and his chest was already smarting from where the knife had caught it, "Fuck, Costigan, the fucking knife."
Costigan saw the knife, but there really wasn't much he could do at the speed Shinzon was moving other than to twist so it hit muscle rather than any ligaments, tendons, or bone. He let out a bit of a yell at the pain that shot through his leg, but Shinzon was on the ground now and Costigan kicked his arm with his injured leg to dislodge the other inmate from the knife's handle. He could take a stab.
"Fucking take care of him," he snapped back to Paddy, trying to pull himself away from the fray now a bit. Costigan sent a pointed look to West who, thus far, had simply been watching with an unreadable look on his face.
His hand jarred, Shinzon let go of the knife as he was trying to wrench it away from Costigan's hand. He locked his jaw and punched hard at the side of Paddy's knee, trying to buy himself time to stand. The thought of losing the knife was an unpleasant one.
Paddy limped backwards when Shinzon hit him, but was determined to do as Billy wanted, and went back in, ignoring the pain in his leg to kick Shinzon hard before he could get back to his feet. He didn't intend to kill the guy, but now he'd stabbed Costigan, anything was good.
"You a fucking part of this or not?" Costigan called over to West. He was used to the gang mentality and knowing, without question, that they had your back because otherwise you would all be dead. It was kind of ironic that he was the rat among them, having come to trust them all so much in some ways. Here, he knew Paddy had his back; West he wasn't certain of.
Although he knew it would be better to keep the knife in the wound for purposes of healing, he was worried about Paddy being able to handle the man on his own and didn't want to leave it in there for Shinzon to rip out. Taking a short breath, Costigan grabbed hold of the knife to rip it out of his leg, letting out another small yell before throwing the knife as far as he could over the Barge's edge.
Then his attention went back to West for a moment, then to Shinzon again.
He took the kick in the jaw, turning enough to see his knife go over the rail. It was luck that didn't dislocate his jaw; the same luck had him seeing black for a few seconds, unconscious for precious moments. It wasn't long, and his vision cleared - but he'd lost his chance of standing back up.
