Dexter was more than a little perplexed when Hayley asked him to coffee. He didn't understand her motivation, even though she had clearly described it as 'continuing her education'. Her insincerity was obvious, but then, Dexter wasn't too great at reading teenage girls. His uneasiness continued as he made his way to the dining hall to pick up some fresh, untainted coffee for the two of him. He didn't know how she took her coffee, so he put sugar in one and left the other plain. It didn't matter to him.

When he arrived at her door five minutes before their scheduled time, he gave it a soft kick as both hands were occupied with cups. He scanned the halls to ensure that nobody was following him -- it was less about any sensible application and more out of habit.

Hayley paused a moment when she heard the noise at the door, looking up from her perusing of her laptop. She worried for a moment that the noise had been in her imagination, but then considered that maybe Dexter's hands were full, or he didn't like to give a full knock. There was no harm in checking, she supposed, and so she moved quickly to the door and opened it a crack. Seeing Dexter with coffee as speculated, the girl swung the door open the rest of the way to allow him entry. "Hey, come on in."

She watched as he entered, motioning toward the small chest at the foot of her bed as a place to set things down. There was only one chair set out nearby and, while she hoped he would choose to sit on the bed to make it easier, she would expect nothing less than for him to be as inconvenient as possible. As he began to get settled, she looked back to close the door behind him. "I hope this isn't weird or anything.. I just really wanted to talk you more about Jack and everything."

The room wasn't exactly what you'd expect of a teenage girl. It was meticulous. Calculated. Everything had a spot, and Hayley had contemplated each of them. It had the strangest effect on him -- it was comfortable, like his apartment in Miami. He was thrown for a loop by that for a minute, and stood wordlessly, looking around.

When he snapped out of it, he set both cups of coffee down where she had motioned and then took a seat on the chair. He figured Hayley would be more comfortable sitting in her own bed than he would.

"The red cup has sugar in it, if that's what you like. The blue one is black coffee. I don't mind either way -- well, I mean, I do. I don't like cream, but I hope if that's your preference, you'll find some way to forgive me." He said with a small, friendly grin he usually reserved for Astor, Cody, and La Guerta. The placating kind.

SUMMARY w/ Dexter's drop :| victimofnoone March 24 2010, 01:04:18 UTC
Hayley uses the remainder of the drugs she swiped from the infirmary to drug Dexter. Dexter regains consciousness tied to the bed and wonders calmly what's going on. Hayley explains that she's giving Dexter his just desserts, eye for an eye and all that, because he killed Jack. Dexter explains that Jack had issues -- an identity crisis or something -- and that Jack deserved to die. Dexter admits to killing people to fulfill the dark needs he has and Hayley notices some similarities, but has already made up her mind for Harvey. They chat a little more, then she decides to go through with it ( ... )
