Ian had been looking forward to some responsibility aboard the ship but he hadn't been here long himself either. He arduously went over Nero's file the night before, reading what he could in spurts and leaving little reminders for himself as he went. He was certainly the type of being that he had never seen himself before and all things aside he was curious as to how they'd get along.

At two minutes past ten, just one hundred and twenty seconds late Ian made his way up to the doors of the library holding up a hand in greeting to the man standing outside of it. "Nero, I presume?"

He was unsurprised to find his Warden was a Terran--the ship appeared to be full of them. He gave Ian a nod, watching him, appraising. "You must be Ian," he said, rising. The man was tall for a Terran, he noticed, nearly as tall as Nero himself. He wanted to ask what in all hells having a Warden actually meant, but, as with everything else on this ship, he needed patience. Much patience. There were things he should not ask until he knew something of Ian's character.

"That would be me," Ian smiled brightly and extended a hand. He didn't see any reason to start off with the you must obey and I'm the boss balderdash. They could have a fair relationship if they both considered it.

He eyed Ian's hand blankly a moment, before belatedly remembering shaking hands was a Terran custom. He had to consciously make sure he didn't actually crush his Warden's hand, since he still wasn't certain just how fragile (or not) human bones were. (Given the pounding Kirk had taken on his ship, he was leaning toward 'not', but he still didn't actually know.)

"You, I think, are not dead," he said, the words half a question. He still didn't understand how the dead/living thing actually worked on the Barge; Kirk had said he was alive, but Nero was hardly going to trust his word. Shinzon he knew to be most definitely dead, but he'd spent so much time in Level 0 that there was much he had no idea of.
