Castiel had the door open within moments of Sam knocking. Doors were still strange to him, as he was not used to utilizing them in any way. But this Barge was strange. He could not teleport as he had before and that frustrated him.

"Hello Sam," he said and stepped back to allow him entry into his rather bare quarters. There was nothing on the wall, nothing on the desk. The place was empty, bare, spiced up with only the basic furniture that each room came with.

After all, how would he put a personal touch on anything when he had never owned anything in his existence?

"Have a seat."

Sam looked around nervously, feeling a little like a suspect in an investigation despite the fact that he'd wanted to come to talk to Cas in the first place. He had issues with Dean, had issues with the vampires on the boat, had issues with Lucifer, and he needed to ask questions, if for no other reason than some source of catharsis. Not that heaving his insides out earlier that morning hadn't been relieving, but more of an emotional cleansing to start his path to redemption, giving himself hope.

"Uh, thanks," the younger Winchester glanced around again anxiously before taking a seat in Castiel's desk chair.

Unsure of whether or not to just start asking questions or to do some sort of introduction, Sam decided to simply stay silent until otherwise told to speak.

Castiel preferred to remain standing, as the only other furniture appropriate to sit on would be the bed and that just didn't seem proper at the moment. So he let his arms fall to one side as he leaned against the wall, watching Sam. How far he had fallen.

"You wanted to talk about Lucifer, Sam? I am not sure how much I can help you, but I can try."

Sam frowned and nodded stiffly. What could he say that wouldn't put the angel off? The former hunter considered a variety of different options. He could first see how the angel was, do a little small talk, then break the big news.

Tersely, "I'm Lucifer's vessel."

Or he could just put it out there right away. Cas had to already know, right? Or was it something that only the higher-ups knew? The younger Winchester leaned over on his knees, trying to keep his thoughts intact as he waited for the angel's reaction.
