"How's that, miss?" Miles asked, a little perplexed. "Like, one of them floods some people were talking about?"

"Oh." Miles pulled his cap off and fiddled with it for a moment. He'd never been in this situation before, so he wasn't sure how to react to it. "But I like liking you."

"That's very kind of you, Miss Rose." Miles has certainly slept worse places than what he's assuming will be her bare floor, and it does sound nice to be close to her. And though it's disappointing to hear there's someone else, Miles isn't the sort to get unduly jealous or start some sort of bar brawl over a woman.

"If you like, miss."

"One good deed every week? I can try." He paused. "What counts as a good deed?"
