Tony groaned and shifted slightly, realizing he was in a bed. At first that seemed normal enough to him until he remembered that he'd been going to get something to eat...but there was a chance if he'd fainted that he'd been taken off to the infirmary with all the injured people that had been in the battle. Opening his eyes, he saw that that was what happened.
Tony also noticed that the hostage he'd been helping was not far away. Sitting up he groaned, "I'm fine. I'm just hungry, I'm going to go..."
And with that, he moved to stand up, planning to go right back to where he'd been after all the effort this man had gone to get Tony to the infirmary. The problem was, he didn't need an infirmary. He needed food.
Armand thought Rose would do better talking to the boy in the bed. She had the right manner for that. He just tended to make people nervous with his hovering, so he went to the older gentleman. "Are you well, monsieur? You... did more than your share of work."
"I'm fine, thanks," Bartlet said, shaking his head. "I'm fine." No he wasn't. But there was nothing physically wrong with him, no injuries. He was, for all intents and purposes, 'fine'.
Once Rose went to help Tony, he sat up, took off his glasses, and rubbed at his eyes as if he could stop seeing the devastation. You wanted a change, Jed - well, you got one. He put his glasses into his pocket - why had he been wearing them? - and looked at the man who was talking to him now. "I didn't, really," he said, smiling weakly. "I could have done more." This was one of the hostages he'd freed. "Are you all right, then?"
