Who: Billy, West, Paulie Where: The Inn, in Snake Apple Village What: Bird Liberation and the first steps of the quest! When: First day of port
( Read more... )
[West looks back at Billy, then pats his pockets down for anything and frowns a bit sheepishly]
Er... the wolf... [He shrugs helplessly, then shakes his head] Nothing for me, thank you.
[Well, fairytale world or not, West knows how to survive on very little, so he figures he can make due without money. They can't be here for very long, after all. As Billy deals with the barman, he glances along down the bar and spots a cage with a pretty unremarkable bird in it. He gives it a disinterested look, before turning his attention back to Billy]
[For a nicely dressed man, Will is distinctly unimpressed with Wests financial situation. Wolves don't steal money, West probably threw all of his down wishing wells.]
Very well. Here.
[Will hands his money across the bar, and narrative imperative requires him to look at the bird as well, tilting his head with an expression of some curiosity.]
Hey, that's a strange thing to keep at an inn. Where did you get it?
[The bartender grunts as he immediately takes Billy's money and returns to wiping out a mug with a fairly unsanitary rag. Because that's what the men that tend bars do. Immediately he sets into story telling voice.]
Some mysterious, old woman covered in layers of clothing so thick I couldn't see her face came 'round and gave it to me in lieu of coin. Mystical, she was. Claimed t' see the future and all.
[Returning to normal voice, he adds.] Poor, little hermit she was. From the Endless Woods, I think. Bird's friendly enough though and keeps to itself. Stops singing when I tell it to be quiet and don't each much. Named it "Tobias".
[Twisting his head, the bird stares down at the Will and West with a pair of beady brown eyes. At every 'it', the feathers on his neck ruffle, and he hops from foot to foot, apparently irritable.
He doesn't even look at the Bartender.
...At least, not until the Bartender mentions the name, "Tobias".
Beating his wings hard enough to rock the cage back and forth, the bird lets out a loud, ear-piercing squawk.]
